What is Citrine?

What is citrine? Well, let's put it this way. Have you ever fallen in love with a yellow diamond? If so, and if you can't afford it, citrine is an excellent alternative. At least in my opinion, since I just love citrine. I have gotten some of the most amazing handmade Indian jewelry designs where citrine is the focal point of many designs. The citrine gem stone is also one of my favorites and I often incorporate the gemstone into many of my own designs.

So, what is citrine? Citrine is not topaz or quartz topaz, which it is often called. It is much less expensive than topaz and available in much larger sizes. What a beautiful substitute! I know people will say I'm crazy for even daring to make such a comparison. True, we're totally talking apples and oranges, but I love citrine, nonethe less.

Colors range from a pastel lemon yellow to deep reddish brown and amber. The most common natural color is golden and tends to be quite pale. The darker citrine is quite scarce and much more valuable than other colors. The darker the color, the more expensive the material becomes.
